Her ebullience, optimism and invocation of “we” is a sunny and inclusive reprieve from Trump’s divisive rhetoric. Her Indian and Jamaican heritage and rhetoric celebrates our diversity while reminding voters of what Americans share. This is in keeping with American presidential tradition. Think of the optimistic rhetoric of former presidents Ronald Reagan, Barack Obama and John F. Kennedy.
